Japanese authorities intend to deprive Russia of the status of “most favored nation” in trade

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida accepted The Japanese authorities are going to deprive Russia of the status of the most favored nation in trade because of the situation around Ukraine, NHK TV channel reports. The decision was made by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

According to the channel, the decision could be announced on Wednesday.

The exclusion of Russia from the list of “most favored nation in trade” countries will deprive it, in particular, of various trade preferences from Japan.

Earlier, Japan expanded the list of goods and technologies prohibited for export to Russia to 300 positions as part of the sanctions imposed against it due to the military operation in Ukraine.

Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
