US President Joe Biden on Wednesday will announce the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 1.01 billion, writes The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources in the US administration.

The aid package will include anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, including Javelins and Stingers, the sources said.

As noted, the decision was made against the backdrop of a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before the US Congress, which is due to take place on Wednesday. During this speech, Zelensky is expected to appeal to the US authorities for additional support.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, EU, UK, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
