A court in Primorye has placed under house arrest a man accused of possessing an old projectile that killed his son and nephew, the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office reports.
According to the department, the incident occurred on March 11. Two children aged 11 and 12, as a result of careless handling of old ammunition, blew it up in the courtyard of a house in the Oktyabrsky district of Primorye. One of the boys died, the second was hospitalized with injuries and died the next day. According to media reports, the dead were cousins.
A case was initiated under the article on causing death by negligence. Investigators found that the father of one of the dead children kept the projectile at home. The Oktyabrsky District Court chose the 37-year-old accused as a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for a period of one month and 27 days.
As the press service of the prosecutor’s office notes, the prosecutor asked the court take the defendant into custody. The decision of the court will be appealed by the department.
