Russian food products with a short shelf life (with the exception of fruits and vegetables) are likely to rise in price the least in the near future. This, according to “Prime”, said Associate Professor of Finance and Prices of the Russian University of Economics. G.V. Plekhanova Maria Dolgova.

She clarified that in different regions, prices for the same thing may differ, which is “caused by differences in the costs of agricultural producers and processing industries: their different distance from consumers and, accordingly, different costs for logistics and transportation of products, an uneven level of effective demand, the development of trade and a number of other factors.”

According to Rosstat, inflation in Russia for the period from February 26 to March 4, 2022 amounted to 2.22%. A week earlier, inflation in Russia was at the level of 0.45%. Since the beginning of March, consumer prices have risen by 1.26%, and by 3.46% since the beginning of the year. In annual terms, inflation as of March 4 (according to calculations using average daily data for this and last year on similar dates) was 9.99%.
