German and American pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Bayer announced the suspension of investments in Russia. At the same time, for ethical reasons, they will continue to supply medicines to the Russian Federation.

According to RBC, Pfizer was informed that the company does not have production sites in the country, so it will simply stop all planned investments with local suppliers, and the company will donate the proceeds from the sale of medicines in the country to humanitarian aid to citizens of Ukraine. In addition, Pfizer will stop recruiting new patients for existing drug trials and will not initiate new trials.

Bayer, in turn, will suspend all advertising campaigns and will not look for new business opportunities in Russia.

There will be no interruption in the supply of medicines. This, the companies said in a statement, will lead to patient suffering and potential loss of life, especially among children and the elderly.

On February 24, the Russian Federation launched a special operation to protect the LDNR, which was preceded by the recognition of the independence of the people’s republics by Moscow. President Vladimir Putin said that “circumstances require Russia to act decisively” and that it will not allow Kyiv to acquire nuclear weapons. Following this, Western countries began to impose the most severe anti-Russian sanctions.
