On the afternoon of March 15, the Metropolitan Council approved the ordinance that gives the green light to the process, which should have been carried out since February of this year.
Councilor Omar Cevallos, president of the Mobility Commission, explained to the Council that work tables were held, accepting comments and making changes for the second debate of the draft ordinance.
For her part, Silvana Vallejo, general director of the Metropolitan Transit Agency (AMT), explained that on February 2, through a resolution, The rescheduling request was accepted. for the process of technical review and vehicle registration.

The AMT calculates that this year 449,832 vehicles will be reviewedincluding new cars. Also, it is estimated that 55,390 new vehicles will be registered for the first time. Some 58,029 cars will undergo technical inspection in another canton during the first half of the year. Starting in July, 336,413 will be reviewed in Quito.
Regarding the vehicles that will carry out the technical review in another canton, the AMT indicates that 21,860 correspond to public and commercial transport. (I)
