A bus from the Ambateñita cooperative that covered the El Corazón-Simiátug-Ambato route fell into an abyss after being dragged by the muddy landslide that occurred in the La Plancha sector, as a result of the intense storm in the area.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, March 14.

Mario Punina, an inhabitant of the sector where the road accident occurred, reported the event to the uniformed police officers who arrived at the scene to verify the accident.
He said that, around 4:00 p.m., the bus from the Ambateñita cooperative, due to bad weather and the terrible conditions of the road, got stuck on the road.
According to the police report, Punina reported that an avalanche of mud subsequently descended and dragged the bus approximately 150 meters into the abyss.

Ángel Paredes, councilor of the Pangua canton, province of Cotopaxi, reported that the bus, after falling into the abyss, had been stuck in a small flat space, and that this would have had an effect on the fact that there were no serious injuries or deaths.
