Moscow pharmacies are running out of foreign drugs for permanent use and their Russian counterparts used by patients with hypothyroidism, Vedomosti writes with reference to data from the 2GIS Pharmacy aggregator, Infolek, a reference for the availability of drugs, as well as the largest online pharmacies Apteka.ru and Hello.
Drugs for the treatment of hypothyroidism (lack of thyroid hormones) eutiroks and L-thyroxine in Moscow and the Moscow region, according to 2GIS Pharmacy, are available in less than 5% of pharmacies, and at some points in quantities from one to four packs. In addition, as two patients told the publication, orders are often canceled after registration.
At the same time, a petition appeared on the Change.org website addressed to the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko. The author of the petition notes that currently “it is impossible to purchase Euthyrox and L-thyroxine preparations (manufactured in European countries), due to their complete absence on sale in Russia.”
The petition states that the drugs “should be taken daily to support the life of people with thyroid disease,” but there is currently a shortage. “We ask you to resolve the issue at the legislative level. This is a matter of life and death for millions of Russian people,” the author of the petition notes. Currently, the appeal has been signed by 1140 people.
