Every second product on the store shelf with the GOST marking does not meet the requirements of the state standard, Vsevolod Vishnevetsky, head of the St. Petersburg public consumer organization Public Control, said at a press conference at Interfax.

In particular, the expert spoke about the quality of dairy products on store shelves. According to him, most often violations are found among producers from other regions, who, in an attempt to compete with local ones, seek price reductions by “diluting” or replacing ingredients. So, in milk, sour cream or butter, milk fat is often absent.

“Many of the samples do not contain milk fat. These are quite a lot of cases, not isolated ones,” Vishnevetsky said.

Violations were found in the dairy products of such retail chains as Okay, Lenta, Dixy, Magnit, Verny, the expert summed up. Consumers also complain about the quality of shoes, utilities, household appliances and medical services.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation allowed a rise in the price of milk, bread and vegetables.
