Police rule out that gas was released inside the Portoviejo nightclub

After the controversy that arose early Sunday morning, when a video was released in which several citizens who were inside a nightclub in Portoviejo indicated that they had been removed from that place after the alleged gassing by police officers, the institution gave its version of that incident.

Rafael Marcelo Pérez, commander of Police Zone 4, indicated that he respects the fact of the work that people carry out in various activities, but that regulations must also be complied with and that there are schedules that must be followed.

He said that all nightclubs are authorized to operate until 02:00. Pérez pointed out that the nightclub where the incident occurred closed its doors at that time and several people stayed inside, and that it would have been more than three times that they had carried out this action in that place.

In social networks, citizens denounce having been evicted with gas from a nightclub in Portoviejo; Police have not commented on the case.

“We want to tell the people who are circulating or broadcasting a video indicating that the police personnel released some type of gas, (tell them that), at no time did they release, that can be corroborated and certified by the national commissioner who He was with us in the procedure, once (people) began to leave, the disinformation began and we as the National Police are showing our faces,” Pérez declared.

He added that the nightclub manager later apologized, noting that no gas had been released. Given this, Pérez asked the public to abide by the provisions that are available for the operation of premises.

Yuli Intriago, through his social networks, released a video last Sunday in which he indicated that several people had been evicted from inside a nightclub and that they had used gas for this. (I)
