Doctors who examined the boy indicated that for now he is in stable condition.
The early morning of this Friday, October 28, a newborn was found in a garbage bag in the suburb of Guayaquil.
The newborn was found by a neighbor of the sector of the alley 26 and the Q. The residents said that the baby still had the umbilical cord and that they immediately called ECU911.
Ronny Vera, a neighbor of the sector, said that a known taxi driver woke him up at 05:00 because as he passed through that area he heard the baby crying.
The resident explained that when he left his house he found the child naked, with half his body inside the cover. It was on an area of land, next to a sewer. There were pieces of glass nearby. Then Vera pulled out a sheet, wrapped the baby up, and brought him home.
“I was freezing, but I was crying. There I called 911 and they gave me instructions over the phone, they told me to put it on my chest to make it warmer, “said the man and said that a few minutes later a patrol car and an ambulance arrived.
A policeman carried the baby in his arms to take him in the ambulance to the Francisco de Ycaza Bustamante hospital, located in the south center of the city.
In that public health house, the doctors who examined the child indicated that for now he is in stable condition, that all check-ups are carried out with specialists to rule out any infection.
This morning, Vera and other neighbors were still alarmed after hours of the discovery. They commented that there are no cameras in the sector, that it is very dark and that the person who abandoned the newborn would have taken advantage of the presence of several parked cars. (I)
