Pianist Luka Safronov, son of artist Nikas Safronov, handcuffed himself to a McDonald’s to protest the company’s decision to suspend operations in Russia. It is reported by “KP”.

According to the pianist, McDonald’s has been feeding us its food for 30 years and asking us to accept ourselves as we are, and now people have to break their habitual way of life. He expressed disagreement that the sanctions were aimed at ordinary people and lamented that he was being deprived of the food he was used to.

During his action, Safronov gathered a small crowd. The publication reports that the action was not agreed with the authorities. Some time later, the artist was detained by the police.

Recall that the McDonald’s network will suspend its work in Russia on March 14. The corresponding decision was made “due to operational, technical and logistical difficulties.”

Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.”

In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
