The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Kuleba, called the issue of providing MiG-29 fighter jets to Kiev a “diplomatic mystery” and accused Western countries of conducting “ping-pong diplomacy.”
“Frankly, everything that has happened around these fighters over the past week is a kind of diplomatic mystery,” the minister announced in an interview with CBS. – On the one hand, everyone is ready to do it, but nothing happens, and we do not receive them. It reminds me of another game of ping pong where each side throws the ball to the other side and gets it back.”
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources in the US administration, reported that Poland was considering providing Ukraine with MiG-29 fighters and Su-25 attack aircraft, receiving F-16 fighter jets from the United States in return. But, as the same publication later reported, US President Joe Biden vetoed this decision, fearing that it would escalate the situation in Ukraine.
