Tourists stuck in Asia don’t know how to get back home. Rostourism promised that they would “return to Russia in the coming weeks”, but the transportation process is greatly delayed due to problems with air traffic. In addition, the authorities primarily help organized tourists who flew abroad through tour operators. Independent travelers are on their own. Their flights were canceled due to the closed air, and the Visa and Mastercard payment systems stopped servicing Russian cards abroad, leaving people virtually without a livelihood, the Network of City Portals reports.
So, in Thailand at the time of the stoppage of flights were up to 7 thousand Russians. In addition, thousands of Russians remain in Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
A couple from Krasnoyarsk – Anna and her young man – work in government agencies. In January, Anna bought tickets (Krasnoyarsk – Bangkok – Krasnoyarsk, for two – 76 thousand rubles), took out insurance and Thai Pass (entry permit in the form of a QR code). Plus, two more insurances were from Sberbank and Alfa-Bank. “Actually, our insured event — flight cancellation — should be covered, but, of course, they refused us, kicked us off, and that’s all,” the girl told MSK1.RU. “The problems of leasing aircraft are not included in the insurance of ordinary people.”
Anna constantly calls Aeroflot – in theory, since the couple has one booking, inside which there are round-trip tickets, the airline is obliged to return the entire amount to us, and not just for the missed flight. “But the operators of the Aeroflot support service refuse and talk about a refund only for a canceled flight. This is approximately 35-38 thousand. And the cheapest ticket now – through third countries – to Moscow is about 200 thousand for two. We just don’t have this money, we have a mortgage,” says Anna. But our familiar family with children put up a price tag of 500 thousand. They are already thinking of selling the car in Russia to get out of Thailand.
“Aeroflot does not provide any humanitarian or evacuation flights, nor does Ural Airlines, which do not respond normally to customers. If you have tickets to Bangkok, then the export flight is available to you only from there. In Istanbul, they won’t accept you like this anymore, ”the girl said.
When there will be a state export flight, the couple is also unknown. Now the Russians live in a rented apartment in Pattaya.
The relatives of the young people tried to get an intelligible answer from Aeroflot, then they turned to the Russian Foreign Ministry and Rostourism, and Anna herself tried to get through to the Russian Embassy in Thailand – to no avail.
