Russian President Vladimir Putin, during telephone conversations with his Turkish counterpart, said that he was not opposed to meeting with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. This, according to RIA Novosti, was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
“In principle, during telephone conversations with our president, Putin said that he was not against such a meeting… The Ukrainian side is ready. Technical negotiations are underway between the parties in Belarus,” he said.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on this statement to Interfax. According to him, the possibility of a meeting is not ruled out, but “we need to understand what should be the result of this meeting and what will be discussed at it.”
Earlier, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations were close to a compromise in the negotiations. He clarified that the parties “began to talk about something, and not throw ultimatums.”
“And I emphasize once again: the Russian side is already looking (at the situation) much more adequately. But some more time must pass so that they generally understand 100% the situation that Russia, and not Ukraine, has fallen into, ”he added.
