Police chief of Kiev region: Famous documentary filmmaker from the USA Brent Reno killed in Irpin

Documentary filmmaker and war reporter Brent Renault killed in Ukraine. This was announced in his social networks by the head of the police of the Kiev region Andriy Nebytov, accompanying the publication with photographs of the body and documents of the journalist. The New York Times, with which Renault had previously collaborated, reported that they knew about Brent’s death, but he did not work for them at that time, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Nebytov, in addition to the deceased 51-year-old Brent, two more correspondents were injured. The wounded were taken away from the scene and taken to the capital’s hospital. Nothing is known about the state of health of journalists.

According to IMDb, Brent Renault is a Peabody and DuPont award winner. For the past two decades, he has produced films and television shows with his brother Craig. The Renault brothers are best known for their humanist stories from trouble spots including Iraq and Afghanistan. They also covered the earthquake in Haiti, political unrest in Egypt and Libya, extremism in Africa, drug cartels in Mexico and the refugee crisis in Central America.
