The British Foundation of the Mariinsky Theatre, which raised funds to promote Russian theater and ballet in the UK, announced the termination of its activities. According to TASS, the reason for stopping the activities of the fund is not reported.

The Foundation was founded in 1992 by the Russian conductor, artistic director and general director of the Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev. The patron of the foundation was the Prince of Wales.

Earlier, the Hermitage Foundation UK charitable organization suspended cooperation with the Hermitage due to the events in Ukraine. The official statement is published on the website of the organization. The Hermitage Foundation UK has been collaborating with the museum since 2003.

In return, the State Hermitage has asked two museums in Milan to return the paintings it had previously donated to them for exhibitions. In particular, the Hermitage asked for the return of Titian’s “Portrait of a Young Woman” and Giovanni Cariani’s “Temptation (Old Man and Young Woman)”.
