The disconnection of the Russian operators Rostelecom and Megafon from the LINX traffic exchange point, which is located in the UK, will not affect the speed of the Internet in Russia. This is stated in the official message of the Ministry of Digital Development.
The ministry explains that both companies had previously planned to discontinue LINX services due to low traffic. “Traffic will be redistributed to other Internet traffic exchange nodes,” it adds.
On Saturday, an internal letter appeared on social networks, in which the LINX board of directors decided to disconnect two Russian operators Megafon and Rostelecom from their services. In addition, LINX will continue to review other Russian clients that may be affiliated with these companies.
In turn, Rostelecom reports on the “reserves and alternative routes” at its disposal for exchanging traffic with foreign sites, and Megafon that at the end of 2021 the company decided to stop cooperation with LINX in 2022 and start systematic redistribution of traffic.
