The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba is sure that Ukraine is one hundred percent likely to join the EU. He announced this on the air of the Ukrainian telethon UA AT ONCE.

“We expected that tonight during this summit it would be written that, in accordance with Article 49 of the EU Treaty, we are taking Ukraine’s application into work and will consider it under an accelerated procedure,” he emphasizes. “That would be a clear, unambiguous signal from the leaders. I emphasize that today was an informal summit. This is not a decision of the European Union, this is a place where a certain political ambition is established. We would like it to be more ambitious, but everything needs to be evaluated in context. If we compare our expectations yesterday or today, then we wanted more. But what happened tonight, if compared with what we had three weeks ago, is a revolution that is in the interests of Ukraine and launches the process of our membership in the EU.”

At the same time, the head of the Foreign Ministry emphasizes that the acceleration of this process, made possible thanks to the authority of President Volodymyr Zelensky, will require the work of the Ukrainian leadership. “It will take not a day or a week,” he says, adding that Ukraine “has been put on rails and the train will go towards the EU.”

Earlier, the leaders of EU member states, who gathered for an informal summit in French Versailles, made it clear that they “recognize Ukraine’s European choice and its desire to join Europe” and that Kyiv’s request for EU membership will be immediately submitted to the European Commission (EC). Ukraine was also promised financial assistance and new sanctions against Russia, but there is no talk of any accelerated accession of Ukraine to the EU. In particular, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the difficulties that accompany this process.
