On the territory of Georgia, from March 20 to 25, joint command and staff exercises with NATO will be held. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.
The ministry clarified that the Georgia-NATO maneuvers will be held in a command-and-staff format, which includes not field exercises, but computer exercises. The maneuvers will be attended by representatives of 23 countries that are members of NATO or are partners of the alliance.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO does not want a conflict with Russia. He noted that NATO has a responsibility to prevent further escalation of the conflict. To do this, the alliance undertook a historic strengthening of the collective security system and sent thousands of soldiers to the lines.
Recall that on February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and on February 24 he made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.”
