The Ministry of Defense of Belarus said that the movement of its troops is not connected with the Russian military special operation in Ukraine. This is reported by TASS with reference to the head of the General Staff Viktor Gulevich.

According to him, the military personnel of Belarus do not take and do not plan to take part in the special operation. Five battalion tactical groups, together with border guards, cover the southern borders of the republic, carry out reconnaissance, patrol and guard objects, and do not prepare for hostilities. In the near future they will be replaced by another five battalions.

“For homegrown“ military experts ”and couch analysts, I want to emphasize that the movement of troops is in no way connected with the preparation, and even more so with the participation of Belarusian military personnel in a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine,” said a representative of the Ministry of Defense.

Gulevich stressed that these maneuvers are carried out exclusively on the territory of the Republic of Belarus and are aimed at preventing armed nationalist formations, as well as weapons and ammunition from entering Belarus from Ukraine. After completing the assigned tasks, the military will return to the points of permanent deployment.

Recall that on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, said that the main task of this operation is to protect Russia from a military threat from Western countries that “are trying to use the Ukrainian people in the fight against our country.” In response to this decision, sanctions began to be imposed on Russia.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Russian operation could end at any moment, but Kyiv must amend its constitution so that Ukraine would reject any goal of joining any bloc.
