Azerbaijan is ready to increase gas supplies to the EU countries via the Southern Gas Transport Corridor as early as 2023. This was announced by Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shabkhazov during a panel discussion at a diplomatic forum in Antalya.

His words are quoted by the publication report.

“Now the gas pipeline transports gas to Turkey and Europe,” the minister emphasizes, adding that world energy should be based on the diversification of energy supplies. Azerbaijan has huge gas fields in the Caspian Sea and the existing infrastructure is in good condition. Various companies in the energy sector are showing great interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan.”

The Southern Gas Transport Corridor combines the South Caucasus Gas Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum), the Turkish Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline (TAP) with a direction to Southern Europe. The main goal of this project is to improve the security of gas supplies to Europe and reduce Russia’s share as a gas supplier in the European gas market.
