A family group was having fun on the banks of the Santa Rosa River, in the El Vado spa, jurisdiction of the Santa Rosa canton, El Oro, when a tree about 25 meters high fell on two adult women and a girl, who died instantly. . Two other people were injured and were admitted to health homes.

They immediately entered the water to rescue two minors who were trapped between the branches. According to the Firefighters of the Santa Rosa canton, they had several injuries and severe pain in their extremities, for which it was presumed that they had multiple fractures.
The fatal victims were identified as Alejandra Estefanía Ríos Hidalgo, 30 years old; her daughter Doménica Julieth Chuyi Ríos, 3 years old, and Amanda Patricia Ríos Quezada, 28 years old. The three lived in the La Avanzada parish.

“With rescue personnel we managed to extract the bodies under the branches of the tree. It is an accident that caused the death of three women. In this sector there are many trees that are on the banks of the river and that represents a risk for tourists,” said Andrés Romero, head of the Fire Department of the Santa Rosa canton.
The site went from being a place of distraction to a scene of tragedy for the relatives and neighbors of the three women.
