In the afternoon hours of this Wednesday, March 9, four people from the same family were murdered in the rural sector of Calpaz, in the San Cristóbal Alto community, in the González Suárez de San Gabriel parish, Montúfar canton, Carchi province.

The quadruple homicide would have been perpetrated by the partner of one of the daughters of the Toro Pastaz family. She had been being mistreated by the person responsible for this execrable act, unique in Carchi’s history, according to the records of the Judicial Police.

The couple would have separated and Danilo Ch., who would be the alleged perpetrator, threatened the family with death weeks ago. Wilfrido Arcos, president of the community, commented that minutes before he was with Iván Toro, the girl’s father and one of the four murdered.
“Once the livestock work was finished, we said goodbye (at 3:30 p.m.), we hit the road to go to our homes, without thinking that minutes later this tragedy was going to happen,” he said.
During the attack, his wife, Oliva Pastaz; her daughter, Ángela Toro, and a minor of approximately five years, daughter of the perpetrator and the injured person.
The murderer, after injuring his ex-partner, fled from the sector taking a motorcycle, which was located later.
At the moment, police officers are looking for the aggressor with lamps in that inhospitable place; meanwhile, the survivor was transferred to a health home in Quito, due to the seriousness of the injuries that she presented.
There is a presumption that the perpetrator used a firearm and a machete, information that will be clarified in the next few hours by the Dinased and Criminalistics, who went to the remote place with the purpose of investigating the event and carrying out judicial and investigative skills. .
The lifeless bodies of the in-laws, sister-in-law and daughter of the accused will be transferred to the morgue of the San Gabriel Basic Hospital. (I)
