Shall we play ?: the giant doll from the ‘Squid Game’ is the new attraction in a Korean park

This doll, named Younghee, even allows park goers to participate in their own version of the game, minus the slaughter of losers.

Korean production The Squid Game continues to sweep Netflix, remaining in the global top ten of the platform, including in Ecuador. To pay tribute to that acceptance, the Olympic Park in Seoul, capital of South Korea, has installed a 4 meter tall doll similar to the one that appears in the series during the bloody game ‘Red light, green light’.

The scene of that first game showed the extreme violence to which they would be exposed throughout the competition, which caused a curious contradiction with that element considered childish and that has become an emblem of this production and motive of various memes.

This doll, named Younghee, even allows park goers to participate in their own version of the game, minus the slaughter of the losers, of course.

The premise is simple: contestants must run towards the target while the doll is counting with her eyes closed, but must remain motionless when she watches.

“I really wanted to know how it feels to be in the game. It’s like we’re there, listening to the music and seeing this doll, ”said Sung Hye-jin, a Seoul resident born in the Philippines, standing in front of the doll, according to a note from the portal Euronews.

The visitor can live the experience in the characteristic green warmer that the contestants wore, and marked with the number 456, assigned to the show’s main character, Gi-Hun.

The visits these days will surely be especially high, since it coincides with the Halloween parties, on Sunday, October 31. (E)
