The UN called for the lifting of sanctions that harm ordinary Russians. This is reported by Uniindia with reference to the representative of the secretary general of the organization Stefan Dujarric.

According to him, the rejection of sanctions that could harm civilians is the principled position of the UN. When asked about the impact of bilateral sanctions on the supply of coronavirus vaccines, Dujarric replied that he did not have enough information on this.

Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that new EU sanctions against Russia would affect 160 Russian businessmen and politicians, including members of the Federation Council. In addition, sanctions will limit Russia’s access to the use of cryptocurrencies, as well as technologies related to maritime navigation.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission said that the EU countries would gradually reduce their dependence on Russian gas and have already purchased sufficient volumes of gas so as not to depend on Russian supplies until the end of this winter.
