WarnerMedia, which includes, among other things, HBO and The CW channels, will suspend the licensing of new content, the release of games, films and series in Russia. It is reported by Variety.
According to the head of the holding, Jason Kilar, the “pause” is connected with the Russian military special operation in Ukraine. The decision on the further development of business in Russia will be made depending on the situation.
Earlier, the Warner Bros. studio, owned by WarnerMedia, postponed indefinitely the Russian premiere of the blockbuster “Batman” – it was supposed to take place on March 2. In Russia, the CNN channel, which is part of WarnerMedia, and 15 channels of the Discovery television network, which was supposed to merge with the media holding, have also temporarily stopped broadcasting. Whether WarnerMedia is going to release the Gotham Knights game in Russia has not yet been specified.
WarnerMedia assets also include HBO Max, Warner Bros. Entertainment, New Line Cinema, DC Comics and DC Films, game studios NetherRealm, WB Montreal and Rocksteady.
