President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law allowing all citizens of the country to use weapons during martial law. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Verkhovna Rada.
Earlier, Zelensky said that in the course of negotiations with the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian side is ready for certain compromises. According to the leader of Ukraine, he is ready “for certain steps.” “Ready to negotiate, ready to compromise. But they cannot be a betrayal of my people,” Zelensky added, also stressing that the Russian side should also be ready for compromises.
In his opinion, the conflict can be ended only through direct negotiations between the two presidents.
In addition, on March 9, the President of Ukraine signed a law on toughening responsibility for treason, providing for punishment up to life imprisonment, as well as for looting – up to 15 years in prison. And before that, he said that Ukrainian politicians who are “looking for threads in Russia” and “working for a split” are expected to take tough measures. According to him, now some politicians in the country are trying to “establish interaction with the Russian Federation.”
