The Japanese company Nintendo has decided to suspend the supply of its products to Russia – game consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch, and software, Bloomberg reports citing a statement from a company representative.
The decision is related to the disruption of supply chains and problems with payment due to sanctions imposed against Russia. Prior to this, Nintendo had already suspended its online store, as the payment operator stopped accepting Russian rubles.
Earlier, Sony Interactive Entertainment also decided to suspend the supply of software and the sale of PlayStation consoles in Russia.
Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
