Chone, MANABI
With banners and posters, residents of several communities of the Santa Rita Mosquito site, in the Chone canton, held a sit-in this Wednesday morning. They met at the San Andrés site, on the Chone-Quito road, kilometer 8, to demand that the Prefecture pay more attention to the road, the construction of a suspension bridge in the Mosquito cove and the repair of others that were affected in the winter of the previous year.
The residents said that they have been affected because the river was only widened, but not dredged, and that work was only done in January, said Richard Intriago, a farmer in the area.
They indicated that the measure was adopted because they perceive that there is little importance given by the provincial GAD. In addition, the representatives of the different communities said that they have been affected for more than two years by the transfer of stone material for the work carried out by the Provincial Council in the construction of the Tres Puntas-Barraganete road.
Residents of the Cube parish, in Esmeraldas, went out to protest for neighborhood roads to be improved
According to residents, the dump trucks destroyed the road with their excess weight and speed.
Roddy Zambrano, from the La López site, indicated that they want the prefect’s presence to make a tour of the road along San Andrés, Mosquito, La Manchuria, La López, Guabina and other precincts, so that he can feel reality.
“On several occasions we have been to the Prefecture, and what they always tell us is ‘we are going to solve these problems,'” he said.
