American doctors have identified five ways to maintain healthy skin and look younger, according to Eat This, Not That! (ETNT).

So, in order to feel better and appear younger, experts from the USA recommend the following methods: be sure to protect your skin from excessive exposure to sunlight, eat right, quit smoking, exercise regularly and learn how to cope with stress, notes Lenta.ru.

As doctor Todd Koch, in particular, said, stress is one of the reasons why a person can look much older than his years. Stress damages skin cells, causing it to lose tone and elasticity. To combat stress, experts advise exercising and devoting more time to self-care.

According to doctor Claire Chan, excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation leads to damage to the skin, increased melanin production and excessive pigmentation, and can also cause premature skin aging. Chan points out that the negative effects of UV exposure gradually accumulate. She recommends starting to protect your skin from the sun as early as possible to keep it looking youthful.

In turn, a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh, Adam Barsuk, believes that if a person’s diet contains a lot of foods high in sugar, convenience foods, fast food and alcohol, then the aging process in his body will go faster. The expert advises to consume more vegetables and fruits, nuts and beans that contain antioxidants that help restore natural metabolism.

At the same time, dermatologist Donna Hart emphasizes that smoking is also one of the bad habits that directly affects the condition of the skin. Exposure to toxins contained in tobacco smoke adversely affects the functioning of the whole body, in particular, it causes loss of natural color, dryness and flabbiness of the skin. “When you quit smoking, your vitamin C and collagen levels bounce back within a few months. Shallow wrinkles can then recover by themselves, ”said the expert.

And dermatologist David Banks believes that regular exercise also contributes to the rejuvenation of the body. Thanks to physical activity, vitamins and oxygen reach all organs faster and better nourish the skin, which makes it more toned.
