Anyone can become a victim of phone scammers, and it is important to understand that scammers often “hypnotize” potential victims. Alexei Sizov, head of the anti-fraud department at Jet Infosystems, spoke about this in an interview with Sputnik radio.

According to him, both a supermarket cashier and a university professor can become victims of telephone scammers. Social status, like age, does not play a decisive role, the expert pointed out.

“There are methods of Neuro Linguistic Programming that are used by certain groups. These are voice intonations, selection of phrases, and so on, which make a person treat words differently. This is not hypnosis, but still a certain effect on the mental state of a person, as a result of which that very “nebula” appears, ”Sizov emphasized.

He warned that the methods of phone scammers are very similar to those used by gypsies, offering passers-by to tell fortunes. According to the expert, the best thing in such a situation is to stop the dialogue.

“If you receive a call from a suspicious or unknown number, then ask who called you, from which organization and on what issue. Remember this information, hang up, and then call back to the same organization at the numbers you know, ”Sizov advised.

We also recall that earlier the leading analyst of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) Karen Kazaryan explained to Rosbalt that against the backdrop of the aggravation of the situation in Ukraine and instability in the foreign exchange market and the stock market in Russia, IT fraudsters may become more active, and now more than ever relevant basic rules digital hygiene.
