Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk explained why Kyiv did not agree with the opening of humanitarian corridors previously proposed by Russia. This is allegedly connected with the unacceptability of opening humanitarian corridors towards the Russian Federation.

“Our people will not go from Ivanki, Dymer, Vyshgorod, from near Kyiv to Belarus, to then fly to Russia by plane,” Irina Vereshchuk announced, calling on “the whole civilized world” to put pressure on Russia in order to create “real” corridors, which will facilitate the withdrawal of the civilian population to Ukrainian territory.

The opening of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of the civilian population was one of the topics of negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, which took place on March 3. As the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the morning of March 7, starting from 10:00 Moscow time, a “silence regime” was announced and the opening of six humanitarian corridors: from Kyiv to Gomel, two from Mariupol to Zaporozhye and Rostov-on-Don, one more will stretch from Kharkov to Belgorod and two from Sumy to Belgorod and Poltava.
