Russians warned about a new type of spam calls from abroad

Russian mobile operators have recorded a new type of calls and SMS from scammers from abroad with calls or requests for help, RIA Novosti was told in the press services of the companies.

“In recent days, we have really noticed a small surge in a new type of calls and SMS from intruders. The problem is not massive, but several people have filed similar complaints. As a rule, these are calls from abroad from robots with calls or requests to help relatives, ”the MTS press service noted.

In addition, there were several cases of sending SMS with various appeals, the problem was solved by the operator himself.

“We are indeed capturing a new kind of voice spam. Calls using replacement numbers come from abroad. They become an additional factor of concern for people and carry the risk of financial losses,” the press service of the Tele2 operator said.

The company treats inappropriate calls in the same way as voice spam and fraudulent calls. The operator in his personal account warns users about a new type of unwanted calls and encourages them to block such calls themselves if possible.

In turn, Sergey Khrenov, director of fraud and income loss prevention at MegaFon, assured that the company is constantly working to block all unwanted calls, including spam and fraudulent ones.

We also recall that recently the Central Bank of the Russian Federation warned about scammers who began to scare Russians with the loss of money due to the disconnection of banks from the international system of interbank operations and the exchange of information SWIFT.
