NATO countries do not plan to send combat units to Ukraine, said British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
He stressed that the countries of the alliance are not a party to this conflict.
“This is not a NATO conflict, and it will not become one … We have no hostile feelings towards the Russian people, and we have no desire to challenge a great nation and world power,” Johnson assured, writes The New York Times.
The British prime minister added that Ukraine “has no real prospects of becoming a NATO member” in the coming years.
He also called the actions that the alliance intends to take in the interests of Euro-Atlantic security – this is the strengthening of the eastern flank of NATO and the support of countries that may be threatened by “Russian aggression”, such as Georgia and Moldova.
Earlier, Johnson said that none of the NATO members is striving for a military confrontation with Russia. At the same time, he stressed that London would continue to impose economic sanctions against Moscow.
