A minor was arrested as allegedly responsible for the murders of Jorge Cuero Estupiñán, 30, and Ángel García González, 21, who were shot in the doorway of a house, in the Voluntad de Dios neighborhood, south of the city. Emerald City.

According to witnesses, Quiñónez was walking with his wife on the sidewalk of one of the roads of the Pacific trunk, sector Y of Vuelta Larga, south of the capital of Esmeralda, when his two victimizers approached on a motorcycle and shot him three times.

Early this Sunday, March 6, another violent event was recorded in Esmeraldas, in the Valle Hermoso sector. One person was shot inside a house. Given this fact, the uniformed officers carried out new raids in that area and seized two firearms, ammunition, a silencer, which -according to the police chief- were used in this assassination attempt.
From January to March 4, 2022, 70 deaths due to criminal violence are recorded in the six police districts of Esmeraldas. In this province, 7,087 operations have been carried out, 416 people have been arrested for flagrant crimes and seven criminal organizations have been dismantled, according to police figures.
