The personnel strike took place at the site of the Gemont construction company in Nizhnekamsk. Workers from Turkey and the Central Asian republics were not satisfied with the salary converted into dollars – it was transferred to them at the old rate, not taking into account the 30% jump in the American currency.
Employees demanded indexation and refused to go to work, Chelninskiye Izvestiya reports. According to the Nizhnekamsk prosecutor’s assistant Nikolai Mukhranov, after that the employer entered into a dialogue: the parties came to a compromise that “by the end of the day on March 5, the workers will be paid a salary at the rate of 90 rubles. per dollar (two weeks earlier, the American currency was worth about 76 rubles, now – 105.— “Rosbalt”)”.
It is noted that not only the management of Gemont, but also the general director of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim company, for which foreign builders are building the EP-600 plant, took part in the negotiations with the protesters.
