The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, supported the idea of convening an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council related to the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
He believes that the consequences of the fire at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant may pose a threat not only to the countries adjacent to Ukraine, but also to the whole of Europe.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a provocation in the territory adjacent to the Zaporozhye NPP. We remind you that on March 4, the Zaporozhye NPP came under the control of the Russian military. According to the Ministry of Defense, during the night patrol, “a mobile patrol of the National Guard was attacked by a sabotage group – from the windows of several floors of an educational and training complex located outside the power plant, heavy fire from small arms was opened at the Russian guardsmen.” The firing points were suppressed by return fire from small arms. Leaving the building, the saboteurs set fire to it.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky demanded in connection with the incident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to introduce new sanctions against Russia and close the sky over Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that there was no damage to the security systems and the release of radioactive substances at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
