These are the requirements to release a vehicle held in Quito due to a traffic accident

The owners of vehicles that have been retained in Quito, for being involved in traffic accidents, They must follow a series of steps to recover their cars from the nine vehicle retention centers (CRV), where they are transferred after accidents.

The Municipality published information with the procedure that must be followed. The essential requirements are the following:

  • Original and a copy of the Release Order (Judge or Prosecutor)
  • Original of the kind of license plate
  • Original of the citizenship card (passport or identity document in case of foreigners)
  • A copy of the arrest report issued by the traffic civil agent (if applicable)
  • Original and a copy of the payment for the private towing service
  • Original and a copy of the payment for garage services
  • A copy of the mechanical technical report issued by the SIAT (Road Accidentology Unit of the National Police). This document must be withdrawn from the Judicial Unit of Contraventions or in the Prosecutor’s Office (if applicable)
  • Do not have amounts pending payment of tuition and contraventions in the Internal Revenue Service (SRI), National Transit Agency (ANT) and Metropolitan Transit Agency (AMT)

Also, it was indicated what the daily rates for the parking service in the CRVs. Motorcycles pay $1, light vehicles $3, heavy vehicles $9, and extra heavy vehicles $15. Payment is made through the Banco del PacĂ­fico.

As for the crane use, the council clarified that it is a private service provided by private operators that are not related to the Metropolitan Transit Agency. Thus, the amounts to be paid and the financial entities authorized to receive these resources will be determined by the owners of the cranes. (I)
