The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade recommended that fertilizer companies limit their export shipments. This was reported in the press service of the department.
The reason is the disruption of supply chains by foreign companies. As a result, agricultural producers in both Europe and other countries cannot receive the contracted volumes of fertilizers. This could lead to crop failures and food shortages in South and Southeast Asia, Europe and Latin America – “serious consequences” that will affect “hundreds of millions of people” in the medium term.
Producers are advised to refrain from shipping fertilizers for export until carriers resume regular work and provide guarantees for the implementation of export deliveries of Russian fertilizers in full.
Meanwhile, the price of wheat on world markets is setting records, as is the price of natural gas, which directly affects the cost of nitrogen fertilizers.
