In the Ukrainian city of Energodar, the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant caught fire, BBC News reports, citing a message from the mayor of the city, Dmitry Orlov.
Orlov reports that the buildings and blocks of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant were “continuously shelled”, as a result of which the largest nuclear power plant in Europe caught fire.
It is reported that similar information was published in the ZNPP Telegram channel with a warning about “a real threat of nuclear danger at the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.”
Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
