This week, the auto companies Volvo, Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz announced the suspension of the supply of cars to Russian dealers. The Russians began to hastily invest in cars, and this led to the depletion of dealer stocks. Experts interviewed by Autonews.ru do not rule out that in the near future many car dealerships will simply have nothing to sell.

As the head of the analytical agency Avtostat, Sergey Tselikov, told the publication, dealers no longer have popular models at reasonable prices. According to the expert, in order not to completely empty the salons, dealers rewrite price lists to “unacceptable levels.” However, there are still customers who buy cars at current prices.

“Soon there will be practically nothing in the salons. Deliveries of new cars have been suspended for almost all brands. When it will resume, no one knows. The supply chains of components broke at the factories. And imports have been stopped for political, economic and logistical reasons,” Tselikov explained.

The publication writes that the warehouse stocks of dealers at the moment are almost completely exhausted. Today it has become almost impossible to find a popular model in most car dealerships. There is no talk at all about the choice of suitable complete sets.

Mitsubishi is only considering the possibility of suspending deliveries and production in Russia. But in the showrooms of the Japanese brand, the issue of a shortage of cars is already very acute. We could not find the most popular Mitsubishi Outlander model in two dealerships at once.

However, experts are sure that dealerships will not be able to completely sell off the rest of the cars so quickly. The reason is the huge margins, which are radically different from the official price lists. For example, in a large official Skoda dealership, correspondents of the publication were offered to purchase Octavia in the basic configuration, with an “automatic” and a 150-horsepower engine for 3.5 million rubles. At the same time, on the official website, the price for such a model is 1 million 725 thousand rubles.

According to Sergey Tselikov, head of the Avtostat analytical agency, in the current situation, the car market will continue to be redistributed towards China and Korea. So far, not a single company from these countries has officially announced the cessation of production or supply of cars.

In the showrooms of most Chinese and Korean companies, cars are still available. True, as it turned out, the prices at dealers of these brands have little in common with the price lists that are published on the official website.
