Against the backdrop of the fall of the ruble and sanctions in Russia, prices for raw materials for bakery products are rising. Flour, sunflower oil and sugar have risen in price strongly, the executive director of the Russian Association of Bakers and Confectioners Valentin Maksimov said in a conversation with a Rosbalt correspondent.
“The situation is not easy, prices are rising both for imported and Russian raw materials – flour, sugar, sunflower oil. And these are the main ingredients. Suppliers do not comment on what is happening. The rise in prices would be understandable in a few months, with an increase in interest rates on loans, a rise in the price of equipment. Now we believe that they have no moral right to do this,” Maksimov said.
According to him, the confectionery industry depends the most on imported raw materials. Problems have already begun with the supply of blue poppy and frozen berries – blueberries and cherries, which were brought from the United States and China.
Prices for cakes, pastries, puffs and rolls are planned to be raised by 10%, Maksimov concluded.
Earlier, Rosbalt wrote that St. Petersburg bakers were raising prices for their products.
