Borjomi mineral water disappears from the shelves in Estonia. The product, thought to be Georgian, is ultimately produced by the Russian Alfa Group, which recently came under sanctions over a Russian-led sting operation in Ukraine.
Rimi representative Catherine Bats explained to Delfi that the company will not cooperate with the company, which will be sanctioned, and Borjomi’s purchases have already been suspended.
Tiina Shapel, head of marketing and public relations at Maxima Eesti, confirmed that Borjomi’s parent company is located in Russia and has been sanctioned. Therefore, the Maxima chain decided to remove Borjomi water from all its 83 stores from Monday.
Rivo Veski, head of public relations at Selver, said that they bought Borjomi directly from Georgia, but after learning that the parent company is Alfa Group, they decided to withdraw this product from store shelves.
