Prosecutor’s Office investigates alleged cybercrime against assemblyman Fernando Villavicencio

The State Attorney General’s Office opened a preliminary investigation for an alleged cybercrime, after a complaint made by Assemblyman Fernando Villavicencio (CN-PSE) of being the victim of threats and attacks against him, which would be led by people linked to the Citizen Revolution political movement .

Diana Salazar, Attorney General of the State, on February 25, issued a response to the national legislator regarding a request for an investigation, given that she has systematically been the victim of attacks, verbal and written violence, and threats and intimidation against of their physical and moral integrity.

In the brief presented to the prosecutor, Villavicencio assures that the attacks worsened during the period in which he led the investigation of the Sucre case as president of the Political Control and Oversight Commission of the National Assembly.

This case, he adds, revealed one of the biggest robberies that have been committed against the International Reserve of Free Disposition of Ecuador, whose mechanism was operated in the government of Rafael Correa, with the responsibility of high-ranking government officials of the time, as well as also of Nicolás Maduro, current ruler of Venezuela, the one today detained and prosecuted in the United States of America Álex Saab Morán; and, from the former Colombian senator Piedad Córdova Ruiz. For this, the legislator delivered information disseminated on social networks.

Based on articles 580 and 581.1 of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code, the State Attorney General ordered that the aforementioned facts be immediately investigated, initiating the preliminary investigation.

With the promotion of the investigations, from now on, the information that helps to clarify the reported facts must be sent directly to the Prosecutor’s Office No. 1 of the National Court Jurisdiction Unit. (I)
