The authorities of Monaco said that they were conducting “checks” of Russians living in the principality for their belonging to the list of persons subject to EU sanctions in connection with the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. RFI reports.
At the same time, when asked whether the inhabitants of Monaco are included in this list, the State (Prime Minister) Minister of the Principality Pierre Dartoux could not give an exact answer.
“This is information that we cannot provide. But of course, we carry out checks, as we are in constant contact with banking institutions that have information,” he explained.
Dartu added that the authorities are handing over the relevant lists, and banking institutions, for their part, must confidentially inform the authorities about the account holders, regardless of whether they are residents or not.
