The administration of US President Joe Biden plans to ban Russian-flagged ships from entering US ports due to the situation around Ukraine. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources in the White House.

According to the publication, this measure will be symbolic, since the share of goods delivered to the States by Russian ships is less than 1% of the total volume of cargo received by the United States by sea. As for the oil companies of the Russian Federation, they most often deliver their cargo on tankers not flying Russian flags.

The White House told the publication that a decision on this issue has not yet been made.

Earlier it became known that a new law adopted in the UK gives the authorities of this country the authority to detain Russian ships in their ports. “Russian vessels will be banned from UK ports after a new package of British sanctions against Russia. The ban applies to all ships owned or operated by anyone linked to Russia, and the authorities will have new powers to detain them,” the statement said.

Recall that the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, scheduled for the evening of March 2, are postponed to March 3. This was announced by the head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Medinsky. “We arrived early, as agreed,” he added. They will probably be here tomorrow morning. We understand the complexity of their logistics.”

He explained that the place of negotiations in the Brest region was chosen by both sides. The negotiating agenda includes issues related to the ceasefire regime. The fact that the Ukrainian delegation left for negotiations was also reported by the office of the President of Ukraine. According to preliminary data, they will be held in the famous Belovezhskaya Pushcha.
