Ukraine will receive offensive weapons from Spain. This was stated by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, RIA Novosti reports.

It is specified that almost 1.4 thousand grenade launchers and 700 thousand cartridges for rifles and machine guns will be sent, which will be bundled with the latter. Two planes with weapons will take off on March 4, Sanchez added.

According to him, Spain supports the activation of the European Peace Fund for the supply of defensive and offensive weapons by the European Union to Ukraine. He added that the Spanish authorities consider the special operation of Russian troops in Ukraine an attack on Europe, on European principles and values.

A coordinated and unified “European response” should be given to the “threat to Europe”, Sanchez stressed.

Recall, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin made an emergency appeal to the Russians and announced a special military operation in the Donbass. In his speech, he stated that “circumstances require decisive action from Russia” and stressed that “Russia will not allow Ukraine to have nuclear weapons.” In response to Russia’s actions, Western countries (USA, Canada, European Union, Great Britain, Japan) announced new, tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation, including financial and economic ones.
