The online encyclopedia Wikipedia received a notification from Roskomnadzor with the threat of blocking in the Russian Federation for an article posted there called “Russian invasion of Ukraine (2022)”. This was reported by Russian Wikipedia on its Twitter.

According to the statement of the RKN, the article uses information that violates the law, namely, information about the numerous victims among the military personnel of the Russian Federation and the civilian population of Ukraine, including children, as well as the need to withdraw funds from accounts in Russian banks due to the sanctions of foreign states.

The department’s notice contains a link to the mobile version of the site, but it is not reported whether the potential blocking will affect only it.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation demanded to block access to the resources of Dozhd (recognized in Russia as a foreign media agent) and Ekho Moskvy. The department said that media websites contained materials calling for extremist activities and false information about the actions of the Russian military as part of a “special military operation” in Ukraine. The editors of Ekho Moskvy do not agree with the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office and will seek its annulment in court.

Recall that on February 24, Roskomnadzor sent notices about the need to restrict access to false information to the resources of Ekho Moskvy, InoSMI, Svobodnaya Pressa, Novaya Gazeta, Lenizdat, New Times, as well as those recognized in the Russian Federation by foreign agents, the Dozhd TV channel, Mediazona and Krym.Realii publications.

“On these resources, under the guise of reliable messages, publicly significant information that does not correspond to reality about the shelling of Ukrainian cities and the death of civilians in Ukraine as a result of the actions of the Russian army, as well as materials in which the ongoing operation is called an attack, invasion, or a declaration of war,” was posted. in a departmental announcement.
