The President Guillermo Lasso participated -this Wednesday, March 2, 2022- in the commemoration for the 84 years of professionalization of the National Police and 176 years of institutionalization that took place in the Higher School of Police, in Pusuquí, north of Quito.
The president thanked for the service they provide to ensure the safety of Ecuadorians. He showed his respect, recognition and support.
In the ceremony there was graduations, promotions and the change of command of the National Police from General Tannya Varela to General Carlos Cabrera.

The General Commander of the Police, General Carlos Cabrera, In his speech he pointed out that in the current period of the Government an immense number of operations have been deployed to control people and vehicles, operations have been carried out maintenance of public order, intervention operations in the control of social rehabilitation centers, operations to control illegal mining activities, support in natural disasters, resolution of kidnappings, seizure of weapons, ammunition and explosives.
Lasso asked support for the creation of the university of the National Police.

The head of state also referred to the case of the Social Security Institute of the National Police (Isspol) and mentioned that they will be attentive to the progress of the investigations so that the legitimate owners of the funds “stolen” from the institution are not harmed.
In the ceremony, according to the Secretary of Communication of the Presidency of the Republic, they graduated 63 women as second lieutenants and 254 men. (I).
